The Big 3: Social Media

Social media is a crucial part of daily life for your potential customers. It’s where they catch up with friends and establish business connections. If you are present in social media, you have the opportunity to become a part of your target audience’s everyday life!

Last week we looked at “The Big 3″ search engines and directories and why maintaining a strong presence for your business on each of them is important. This week we’ll look at the 3 key players in social media and what they are all about:

Facebook - Of all the social media platforms, Facebook offers the best information-sharing capabilities. You can freely post photos, deals, fun contests, and other tid-bits that show up in your potential customer’s social feed. And what’s even cooler, you have the ability to communicate directly with your consumers, answering questions and having one-on-one conversations. What better way to make a personal connection, right?

Twitter – Twitter is the social media platform for those of us with a short attention span. Limited to 140 characters, your posts are short, sweet, and reach customers who are on the go, quickly and concisely. You can “tweet” to link to your blog or corporate website, and remind your customers that you are available in multiple channels.

LinkedIn – Think “Facebook for Professionals.” LinkedIn is the social media platform that lets you connect with those who are most likely to be the decision makers in their households. Use this channel to help your business become a trusted and respected organization within your community.

Is your business actively represented on these social media platforms? Chances are, your competitor is. Remember that a great website and a healthy search engine presence isn’t enough to generate the interest of prospective clients and maintain a good relationship with your current customers. Social media is essential!
